About the Food Security Task Force

The Bergen County Food Security Task Force was formed in 2020 due to the skyrocketing need caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, we have worked to pursue our mission to create a more resilient network of emergency food providers by supplementing pantry distributions, building relationships between partners, and investing in vital infrastructure.

The Food Security Task Force also recognizes that food insecurity is often a symptom of a larger issue such as homelessness, unemployment, or disability. To ensure food pantries are equipped to holistically serve individuals facing food insecurity, the Task Force provides access to external resources such as rental assistance, affordable child care, job training, and mental health counseling.

Feed the Frontlines Rings the Closing Bell at Nasdaq

On January 6th, Ridgewood's Feed the Frontlines (FTFL) team was recognized for their impact on ending hunger in Bergen County at Nasdaq. FTFL has been providing 8,000 hot meals to the food insecure a week. The meals are prepared at various restaurants in Ridgewood and then distributed to food pantries across the county. This program not only helps feed families but also provides aid to restaurants struggling to recover since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
